The town of Ayer is seeking a forward-thinking leader to guide its municipal technology operations in the full-time, fully benefited, exempt position of Information Technology (IT) Manager. Reporting directly to the Town Manager, the IT Manager is a strategic and hands-on professional responsible for the planning, implementation, security, and support of the Town’s technology infrastructures and services.
Essential functions include providing technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and access issues; maintains and updates the town’s website and social media communications; develops and administers cybersecurity training and ensures system protection; oversees performance and security of IT infrastructure across departments; prepares and monitors the IT budget; ensures technology continuity during emergencies; performs other related job duties as required. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; one to three years of IT related experience (preferably in a municipal setting); a combination of education and experience may be considered. Drivers license and ability to pass CORI. Ability to manage multiple tasks; work independently and in a team environment; respond to emergencies; and ability to work with diverse constituencies.
