Highway Division
The town of Medway, department of Public Works, seeks qualified candidates for the full-time (37 hours per week) union position of Heavy Equipment Operator in the Highway Department.
Responsibilities:
Position primarily involves road maintenance and repair; operating all light and heavy department equipment, to include but not be limited to front-end loaders, street sweepers, snowplows and sanders, backhoes, and trucks. Drives and operates assigned motor equipment in accordance with all applicable regulations and safety practices. Repairs catch basins and potholes. Prepares roads for paving.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have two years of highway construction experience, including heavy motor equipment operation, snow and ice removal, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driver’s License and Hoisting Engineer’s Licenses 2A, 1C, and 4G, which are required to operate a complete line of department equipment. OSHA 10 preferred.
The town of Medway offers in-house training to obtain CDL and Hoisting Licenses and is willing to train the right candidate. Licenses would be required within six months of employment.
