The town of Stoneham a residential suburban community located at the intersection of I93 and I95 less than 10 miles to the city of Boston is currently is seeking to fill the full-time position of Health Agent with the Board of Health. This position works under the administrative direction of the Town Administrator and policy direction of the Board of Health.
The Health Agent is responsible for all public health affairs in the town of Stoneham including inspectional activities and directing emergency planning, information review, Public Health complaint response, and the interpretation and enforcement of all applicable federal, state, and local public health and environmental laws, regulations, and codes. The Health Agent must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, work cooperatively with town staff, developers, contractors, state and federal agency representatives, disgruntled members of the public with contractors, vendors, employees town officials and departments as well as general public. The Health Agent must also be able to enforce local ordinances and state or federal laws and regulations in a consistent, timely and impartial manner.
Recommended qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field, or master craftsman level of trade knowledge; minimum of five to seven years of related work experience with at least three to five years in progressively responsible supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid class D driver’s license, Licensed Massachusetts Sanitarian or equivalent. Certification from DEP as licensed approved Servsafe, Certified Pool Operator, Title V certification and ICS/NIMS training and certification and Lead Paint Determinator’s License
