Are you looking for a three-day weekend every week of the year, with full benefits? The town of Halifax seeks a permanent Building Commissioner/Zoning Enforcement Officer, responsible for administrating all provisions of local regulations and state building codes as well as zoning bylaws.
Duties include examining plans and specifications, conducting field inspections, issuing permits, and enforcing building and zoning codes. Additionally, the Commissioner will supervise the administration staff and other inspectors and serve as an enforcement officer for the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals. Attendance at certain meetings is required.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or a master craftsman level of building construction trade knowledge; and a minimum of five years of work preferably in the construction trade; or an equivalent combination experience, education, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Must have valid and clean Massachusetts motor vehicle driver’s license, MA State Certification of the Board of Building Regulations and Standards, MA Construction Supervisors License, and Inspector of Buildings/Building Commissioner Certification. Anticipated starting salary: $91k +/- DOQ. Position will remain open until filled.
