Job Opening: Full-Time Public Health Agent

The town of Dudley is seeking a qualified full-time Public Health Agent to lead public health operations and ensure regulatory compliance. This key position oversees department programs, staff, and grants; conducts inspections and investigations; and serves as the technical advisor to the Board of Health.

Working under the direction of the Board of Health, the Public Health Agent manages departmental planning, budgeting, and emergency preparedness. The role includes enforcing local, state, and federal health regulations, supervising public health clinics, drafting regulations, and coordinating responses to communicable disease and environmental concerns. The agent also represents the town in collaborations with state agencies, schools, housing authorities, and community organizations.

Pay range is $33.18–$38.31/hour (Grade 4), depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes a competitive retirement and benefits package. Attendance is required at monthly Board of Health meetings, typically held one Tuesday evening per month.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public health or a related field; three to five years of relevant experience; a valid Class D driver’s license. Preferred qualifications: REHS/RS certification; Soil Evaluator; Food Protection Manager certification. Strong preference for prior municipal experience.
