Full Time Firefighter/Paramedic

The Westford Fire Department provides suppression, prevention, rescue, and EMS to the town of Westford and surrounding communities, including staffing an ALS transporting ambulance.  The department is currently seeking energetic and dedicated applicants to a fill permanent position and establish a hiring list for future open positions.

Interested applicants are invited to an open house at the Westford Fire Department, 65 Boston Road, Westford, MA on January 11 from 6-9 p.m.


Applicants must have a valid paramedic certification or have an expected paramedic school completion date within 90 days (Before May 31, 2022).  Two years’ experience as a paramedic is desirable, but experience is not required.  All applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and minimum high school diploma or equivalent.   Firefighter I/II certification is preferred, but not required.  Applicants who are not already I/II certified must successfully pass the MA state fire academy upon hire.  Qualified applicants must pass paramedic written test, oral interview, physical agility test, medical exam, and an extensive background investigation.   Applicants must live within 25-mile radius of Westford within one year of hire.

Compensation & Benefits

Westford provides an excellent compensation package as defined by our IAFF Local 3126 Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The CBA includes sick time, family sick, vacation, personal, longevity pay, holiday pay, education incentive, and certification reimbursements.  Employees are eligible for Middlesex County Retirement Group 4.  Health, dental, accident, vision, short term, and long-term disability are also available.  Overtime pay and call-back as necessary.
