The town of Holliston is seeking applicants for the position of Foreman of the Grounds Division. The position will be responsible for the skilled technical and supervisory work overseeing a DPW crew on an assigned Public Works job site, focused on the town’s grounds infrastructure.

Under the supervision of the DPW Deputy Director, responsible for construction, maintenance and repair of athletic fields, recreation areas, and green spaces. Tree care includes maintenance and removal, and the operation of an aerial lift truck. Will participate in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roadways when assistance is needed, and related sidewalks, and drainage systems.

The successful applicant must have the equivalent to completion of four years of high school and a knowledge of trades as they relate to landscape construction and recreation area construction, maintenance, and repair. Proficient in the area of roadway snow and ice control. Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a crew member. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to perform strenuous physical duties under adverse weather conditions.

A minimum of five years of experience in landscape construction, recreation area construction, maintenance, repair, and snow and ice control is required. Landscaping, commercial and/or residential lawn care (fertilization, irrigation, aeration, mowing), landscape contracting, management, and design a plus. Experience with maintenance of artificial turf desirable.

Licenses: Must possess a valid Class B Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Class C hoisting license with restrictions no less than 2B. Must possess a Commercial Applicator’s (Pesticide) License or obtain within two years. Reimbursement is available upon passing. Ability to pass town of Holliston background process, a pre-employment medical screening and become CORI certified.

This is a 40 hour per week position, with a starting range on the Wage Classification Table Step 1 $28.02 – Step 4 $32.53, depending on experience. Full salary range of $28.02 – $36.85.
