The West Bridgewater Fire Department, Office of the Fire Chief, is currently seeking two individuals for the position of full-time Firefighter/ Paramedic. Previous experience as a firefighter in a municipal fire department (or equivalent) will be preferred but not necessary. Applicants must be certified at the EMT-Paramedic level or become certified at the EMT-Paramedic level within one year of appointment. Certification at the EMT-Paramedic level is a condition of employment and must be maintained throughout the individual’s employment with the town of West Bridgewater.

Applicants must successfully pass a thorough background check, possess a high school diploma and possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. The applicants must also complete a recruit-training program through the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services. Residency will be a requirement for anyone hired under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (20 miles from the Town of West Bridgewater).

An interview board will interview all potential candidates. The Chief of the Department may observe and participate in these interviews. This interview board will make a recommendation to the Chief, who is the final appointing authority. The candidates selected must pass a physical examination and a physical agility test for firefighters, run by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Human Resource Division. Potential candidates must also participate in a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Current benefits offered includes:

Base salary for EMT-P: $61,595.00

24 hours on, 24 hours off, 24 hours on, 5 days off schedule
