Job Description
The town of Upton is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Finance Director/Town Accountant, reporting directly to the Town Manager. The position oversees the town’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, fiscal records and systems, internal controls, and compliance with applicable Massachusetts municipal finance laws and regulations. The position prepares and coordinates the annual operating budget, provides financial guidance to town officials and departments and supports sound financial planning and decision-making.
Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field, with five years of municipal finance experience, preferably as a Finance Director/Town Accountant, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Significant knowledge of Massachusetts municipal finance laws and Massachusetts General Laws strongly preferred.
Compensation and Benefits: $100,000–$138,000 annually, with an anticipated hiring salary of approximately $126,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
