The town of Bedford, a AAA-bond-rated community, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Finance Director/Town Accountant. Candidates must possess exceptional public service, administrative and analytical skills. Responsibilities include maintaining a complete set of accounting records of appropriations, expenditures, receipts, assessments, levies and abatements initiated by town departments, reviewing all bills, drafts, orders and payrolls to ensure accuracy, adherence to appropriate procedures and availability of funds. The Finance Director/Town Accountant serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the town and is responsible for providing administrative direction and management of the Finance department, including Accounting, Treasury, and Tax Collecting.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred, plus five years’ experience as a municipal Finance Director or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Familiarity with MA municipal finance and general laws
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and MUNIS
- Must be able to obtain CGA status within three years of hire.
The hours for this position are Monday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to p.m. Anticipated hiring range: $143,350-$172,051, DOQ, plus comprehensive benefits.
