Town of Swampscott – Finance Director
Full-Time, Exempt | Senior Management | Salary: $155,000 ± DOE
The town of Swampscott seeks an experienced Finance Director to oversee all Town-side financial operations and ensure fiscal stability, accountability, and compliance with state and federal laws. Reporting to the Town Administrator, this senior management position provides strategic leadership in budgeting, accounting, cash management, debt service, and financial planning.
The Finance Director prepares and manages the town’s annual operating and capital budgets, supervises the Assistant Town Accountant, oversees audits and financial reporting, and advises the Town Administrator, Finance Committee, and Select Board on fiscal matters. The role collaborates with all municipal departments and the Schools’ Finance Director to promote sound, transparent financial management across the organization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s or CPA preferred. Minimum seven years of progressive municipal or governmental finance experience, including three in a management role. CMA certification or eligibility strongly preferred. Experience with TylerERP/MUNIS desired.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience; anticipated range $155,000 ±, with a comprehensive benefits package.
