The town of Ashburnham, population of 6,300, is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time (40 hours/week with benefits) position of Executive Assistant to the Town Administrator and the Select Board. This position reports to the Town Administrator.

The Executive Assistant’s duties include, but are not limited to, providing administrative, technical, and executive secretarial support to the Town Administrator and the Select Board; responsible for compiling information packets, agendas and draft minutes for Select Board meetings; producing the Annual Town Report; process new and existing licenses, permits and appointment slips for the Select Board; ability to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks with frequent interruptions; maintain professionalism while working with town officials, departments, state agencies and the general public; update the town’s website; ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally; attend Select Board meetings; ability to maintain filing systems; regular access to confidential information, including personnel files and insurances; attendance at bi-monthly nightly Select Board meetings.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s degree in public, political science or business administration or related field with a bachelor’s degree highly desirable; three to five years of office experience in executive office; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job; working with the public and experience in Word, Excel, and knowledge of VADAR software preferred.
