The Town of Westford (24,700 pop.) seeks a customer service and detail-oriented person for the position of Project/Procurement Specialist in the Town Manager’s Office. This position works under the general direction of the Town Manager and aids the two Assistant Town Managers.  Westford is a full-service municipality led by a five-member Select Board and Town Manager with an Open Town Meeting form of government. The residents have come to expect exceptional public services from their elected and appointed officials. As this position is in the Town Manager’s office, the Project/Procurement Specialist has a view of the organization that is unique and far reaching.

This position performs a wide range of highly responsible, professional, and confidential administrative, project management, and procurement functions. The person who is in this position should have the ability to communicate effectively, have strong attention to detail with proof reading and editing skills, exceptional writing skills, and assist in problem resolution with minimum supervision

The successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact for residents, vendors, committees, and internal staff, providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced municipal environment. The role requires strong judgment, a high degree of professionalism, and the ability to work with confidential information on a town-wide basis. Responsibilities include preparing communications and meeting materials, coordinating public notices and website updates, supporting special projects and town-wide initiatives, and performing procurement duties consistent with Massachusetts General Laws. Applicants must be highly organized, self-motivated, and skilled in managing multiple priorities. This position requires outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field and three to five years of experience in municipal administrative work, project management, procurement, grant/contract administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is essential, and the ability to become proficient in Munis is expected. Experience with communications, social media platforms and website content updates is preferred. The starting salary is $78,742 – $88,395, depending on qualifications and experience. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Position will remain open until filled.
