The Equipment Operator II performs skilled work involving the safe and efficient operation of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, as well as truck-mounted and seasonal construction and maintenance equipment. This position supports road maintenance, construction, and public works operations year-round and may provide general supervision to lower-level staff. Responsibilities include operating heavy and specialized vehicles, plowing and mowing equipment, skid steers, street rollers, and other seasonal machinery. The operator may also use equipment for catch basin and drainage cleaning and plan daily work routes within assigned areas. The role includes performing related manual labor and semi-skilled tasks incidental to equipment operation. Work assignments may follow established routines or be given in detail, and duties are carried out in varying weather and emergency conditions.
