The town of Dennis seeks dynamic individual with for the position of Engineering Technician.
The Engineering Technician is responsible for skilled technical work in conducting field surveys and other civil engineering activities in conjunction with municipal engineering projects. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties. The employee works under the general direction of the Town Engineer.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Provides engineering support to the department to ensure professionally designed structures and systems; provides survey support to other town departments as directed.
- Conducts linear and topographical field surveys of municipal engineering projects; creates construction plans based on field survey and survey notes; estimates construction progress for accounts payable; makes inspections of contract construction work and subdivision construction.
- Coordinates the procurement process; prepares invitations to bid, advertises, conducts bid openings, prepares awarding documents and tracks status of procurement.
- Performs project management for municipal construction projects. Drafts, designs, budgets, schedules, inspects, and supervises job site.
- Prepares plans and work drawings; assists in overseeing construction projects and providing quality assurance of engineering elements of town projects.
- Assists in the design, drafting, and calculation of drainage remediation projects.
- Maintains and updates cemetery logs ad plans, assists in plot sales.
- Operates automated CADD program, and other computer programs to input or extract information.
Associate degree in civil engineering with three to five years in construction and/or engineering; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
This position requires a valid motor operator’s license, preferred MCPPO Procurement Certification.
Starting Salary: $73,269/year. This position will remain open until interviews begin.
