The Watertown Department of Public Buildings is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Energy Manager to provide professional and administrative work in overseeing energy efficiency related maintenance and improvements projects to reduce overall carbon emissions, and promote energy efficiency education throughout the city of Watertown. The Energy Manager will be responsible for providing oversight of all vendors and consultants associated with capital improvements to ensure the city’s best interests are well represented. Additional responsibilities include evaluating scope of work, review bid submission, coordinating project schedules, budgeting, and payment requests.

Knowledge, Ability and Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, manuals and construction documents. Ability to communicate orally and in writing and interact with diverse groups with tact. Ability to analyze data, problem solve, complete tasks and meet deadlines in a self-directed manner. Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, email, and database entry).

Massachusetts Class D driver’s license required. Thorough knowledge of energy efficiency, grant writing and administration, and other applicable state statutes, rules and regulations; general knowledge of building systems; and energy related education. Working knowledge of building management systems (Metasys, Facility Explorer, and Tridium Niagara) required. Hands on experience with JACE, BACnet and N2 controllers is highly desirable as is familiarity with Coopers Lighting command and control software. Working knowledge and administration experience with Massachusetts solar incentive programs for both solar arrays and battery storage systems highly desirable. Working knowledge with Massachusetts electrical aggregation programs is highly desirable. Previous experience with Green Communities Mass Energy Insite (MEI) database is highly desirable.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or closely related technical degree, plus three years of experience in the field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have, or be able to obtain, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), within 12 months of employment.

Salary Range Begins at: $87,572.00 annually non-aligned position with an excellent benefits package.
