The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Officer is responsible for the coordination, administration, and continuous improvement of the Charlton Fire department’s Emergency Medical Services program. This position ensures the department’s EMS operations comply with the laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including those set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS), Central Massachusetts EMS (CMEMSC), and applicable federal and state standards.
This position also requires the ability to perform all essential functions of a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic or higher), including responding to medical emergencies, fires, and other incidents as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of seven years of paramedic experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate or bachelors degree in fire science, EMS management, or other job related field preferred.
- Posses and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Certification as a Paramedic by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, OEMS.
- Certification in CPR, ACLS, PALS, and CPR Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor (or obtained within one year).
Successful completion of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Career Recruit Training Program or equivalent with Pro Board Firefighter I/II certification.
Hourly rate: $42.16 (per union contract)
