Newton Fire/Rescue is seeking an experienced, motivated leader to serve as Assistant Fire Chief – EMS & Operations. This command-level position assists the Fire Chief in overseeing Emergency Medical Services, fire suppression operations, training, personnel supervision, emergency management, scheduling, quality assurance, policy development, budgeting, strategic planning, grant administration, and interagency coordination.

The successful candidate must possess extensive fire and EMS experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to supervise personnel while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Applicants must be a Nationally Registered Paramedic (or eligible for New Hampshire licensure), hold Firefighter I & II certification, and have a minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible fire/EMS experience, including seven years in a supervisory or command role. Applicants must reside within twenty (20) miles of Newton Fire Headquarters or be willing to establish residency within that distance upon appointment.

This is a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours per week position with on-call responsibilities and requires the ability to respond to major emergency incidents as needed. Starting pay is $35.00–$37.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
