The town of Leicester is seeking an Emergency Management Director. The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of the town’s emergency management response. Advises the Town Administrator, Select Board and other local and state officials on emergency management policies, laws, and regulations, while coordinating efforts across municipal departments, state, federal, and private entities.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan overseeing the Emergency Operations Center during activations, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Director also manages training programs, disaster response exercises, and public education initiatives to enhance community resilience.
Qualifications: An associate’s degree in emergency management, public administration, business administration, homeland security, or a related field is preferred. Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in emergency management, disaster response, public safety, or a related field. Experience in a leadership or managerial role is highly desirable. This is a stipend position, with hours scheduled as needed, budgeted at $4,292 for FY 2027.
