Job Description
The Department of Public Works (DPW) seeks qualified applicants for the position of Finance Coordinator. Under the direction of the Director of Administration and Finance, this position is responsible for financial, administrative and customer service duties supporting the operations and programs of the Public Works Department. Financial duties include, requisition management, purchase order processing, invoice processing and coordinating with vendors. Assists the department with the procurement management, from preparing bids to be submitted to the Procurement department, working with the Procurement department, DPW supervisors and working with vendors to keep track of project process. Provides information and assistance pertaining to departmental policies and procedures to the public, DPW staff and city departments; and refers complaints to appropriate personnel. Extensive customer service to the public, contractors and city vendors. Serves as backup for processing departmental payroll, processing Personnel Action Forms and maintaining attendance records. Provides general office assistance; prepares departmental correspondence. Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree or equivalent. Four to six years’ experience or combination of education and experience. Strong proficiency in Microsoft office, particularly in Excel. Prior experience in MUNIS is a bonus. Experience with Massachusetts Procurement Law is also a bonus. Prior experience with working with vendors and/or customer service background is preferred.
TERMS/HOURS: This is a union position, and the hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
SALARY: The FY27 anticipated hiring range is $64,647 to $69,976. Per M.G.L. the full 15-step salary range is $64,647 to $85,300. Hiring above Step 1 is dependent on qualifications and experience.
