Domestic Violence Advocate
The city of Fitchburg Police Department is seeking an experienced candidate to fill the position of Domestic Violence Advocate. Under the direction of the Chief of Police and/or designee, the Domestic Violence Advocate is given the authority and responsibility to administer and coordinate the role of the department in victim and witness assistance services. The advocate shall act as a liaison between victims and witnesses of Domestic Violence related crimes and the Victim/Witness Assistance Service of the District Attorney’s Office, and will verify and ensure that victims and witnesses have been advised of their rights. The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree in human services or a related field or equivalent work or volunteer experience. It is imperative that civilian advocates within the Police Department be well trained in domestic violence/sexual assault issues, particularly as they pertain to victims. The salary range for this Union position is $48,672 – $81,432.
