The town of Oxford is currently accepting applications for a full-time, benefits eligible Director of Public Works. The Director directs, plans, organizes, and controls all operations of the Department of Public Works (DPW) including the following divisions: Administration, Engineering, Highway, Cemeteries and Parks, Forestry, Facilities, Fleet Maintenance, and Sewer.
The Director oversees a department of 38 personnel. Successful candidates will have significant budgeting experience. The Director is responsible for the development and management a $4 million budget which includes: the DPW operating budget, sewer enterprise, water enterprise, municipal fuel, and Conservation Commission. The Director is also responsible for the development, management, and implementation of short and long-term capital improvement plans, roadways, drainage, and facilities improvements. Successful candidate will have significant experience in procurement, project management, preparation, and management of RFP’s, RFQ’s, and contracts.
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with seven to 10 years of progressive experience in public works, municipal government coupled with five years of supervisory experience is required. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (or the ability to obtain registration within six months) is required. MCPPO certification preferred.
Position is FLSA exempt position, which may require work in excess of eight hours per day and may require evening or weekend work. Compensation is commensurate with education, training, and experience. Alcohol, controlled substance testing, and criminal background testing is mandatory. Position is open until filled.
