The town of Marshfield is seeking a full-time Director of Public Health

The Director of Public Health is Responsible for administration, planning, and implementation of all department programs and activities directed toward protection of public health and the environment. Under administrative direction, working from municipal policies and objectives and in accordance with state and federal regulations, individual establishes short and long range plans and objectives, town performance standards and assumes direct accountability for department results. The employee exercises control in the development of departmental policies, goals, objectives and budget. The employee has regular access to confidential information on department wide basis and must be HIPAA trained. Duties include department level responsibility for technical processes, service delivery, and contribution to municipal wide plans and objectives and fiscal responsibility for department including buildings, equipment, and staffing utilization. Essential functions include but are not limited to preparation of annual budget, reviews plans and blueprints for septic systems, building additions, preliminary and definitive subdivision submittals, swimming pools, private wells for compliance with state and local codes. Conducts housing inspections, writes order letters, arranges for hearings, and initiates court action when necessary with state regulations. Employee conducts inspections relative to asbestos complaints, and enforces DEP asbestos regulations in addition to serving as local Infectious Disease Coordinator. It is strongly suggested that applicant be a registered sanitarian, registered soil evaluator, certified pool operation and valid motor vehicle license. Applicant must be trained and have experience in Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Capabilities. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health or related field, with five to seven years related work experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Annual salary range: $84,454.42-$94,984.81
