EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
The town of Wolfeboro, NH seeks a full-time Director of Planning and Development. The town of Wolfeboro, NH (approx. year-round pop. 6,900 and summertime pop. to 30,000) is a desirable community, known as “America’s Oldest Summer Resort”. We are located on the eastern shores of magnificent Lake Winnipesaukee. We strive to provide a high-quality, family-friendly life in a picture-book New England setting.
Wolfeboro has had strong Directors of Planning and Development, however for the last several years it has been challenging. The town is looking for a Director of Planning and Development who can provide leadership to right the ship, rebuild confidence, and move the Planning Department forward. The Director leads in assisting the local volunteer Boards in the design and clarification of town’s regulations.
The Director is responsible for the administration, management, and leadership of the Planning and Development department. This includes planning the town’s future in areas including land use, transportation, economic development, and natural resource protection. The person as the zoning administrator is responsible for taking the most conservative or restrictive approach in applying or interpreting zoning regulations, and enforcement, conservation administration, inspections, and code enforcement. The Department is staffed with two full-time employees, one Administrative Assistant and one Code Enforcement Officer.
The ideal candidate should have experience in planning and development and a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in public administration/planning or related fields of experience. This position is full-time, on-site based on 40 hours per week, and will allow for flexible scheduling due to nighttime meetings.
The salary range is $90,000 to $110,000 commensurate with qualifications. The town offers a robust professional development budget and desires a candidate who seeks personal and professional growth. In addition to offering exceptional health and dental insurance, the NH retirement system (NHRS), life and disability insurance, accrued leave time, paid holidays, and longevity stipends.
