The town of Weymouth is currently accepting for a Director of Municipal Licenses and Inspections/Building Commissioner. Working under the policy direction of the Mayor, and/or Director of Administrative and Community Services in accordance with applicable provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, and local bylaws. Plans, directs, coordinates and administers the activities of the Inspectional Services Department which includes the Building, Plumbing/Gas and Electrical inspectors; supervises and assigns work to all subordinate inspectors; consults with public officials on departmental matters need approval. Monitors, interprets and enforces compliance with the Massachusetts Building Code, Zoning By-laws, and all applicable codes and regulations pertaining to building design and construction. Interprets and reviews special permit conditions; investigates complaints of alleged violations and takes appropriate action as required; issues violation notices, cease and desist orders, and files complaints in district court. Serves as Code Enforcement Officer, inspects and enforces local ordinances, codes, and regulations, such as zoning laws and building safety standards, to ensure public health, safety, and community well-being.
