Brockton, MA (96,000), seeks experienced HR professional to guide the city as a preferred employer and provider of innovative and results-oriented HR services, policies, and systems. Strong leadership skills to expand the HR Team’s expertise and offerings with strong communication that clearly explains complex rules and regulations to the Executive Team while being responsive to their HR needs. Reports administratively to the Mayor.
Centrally located 25 miles south of Boston and 30 miles north of Providence, RI, this thriving and history rich “City of Champions” is located in Plymouth County. Brockton has 700+ employees and multiple contractual agreements on the city side. Position leads a department of four personnel with an FY21 operating budget of approximately $53M including oversight of all city employee benefits. Position is not responsible for HR for the schools, but manages the benefits. The city operates with a Mayor/Council form of government.
BA/BS (MA/MS preferred) with solid experience in all HR functional areas and a track record of 5-plus years of success in public sector HR management. Specialization or certificate in labor relations preferred. Residency required within the first year of employment unless waived by City Council.
Salary range to $104,400; DOQ. EOE.
