The Littleton Fire Department is looking to hire a full-time Deputy Fire Chief. The Deputy Fire Chief is responsible for the day to day operations of the Fire Department working directly for the Fire Chief. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a fire-based EMS system, preferably at the paramedic level, and five years’ experience in a supervisory role. A bachelor’s degree in fire science or a related field along with course work in emergency management is preferred.
Littleton has a population of approximately 10,000 residents and a diverse commercial tax base. The department consists of 18 career firefighter/EMT’s and a small, but active, on-call department. A public sewer project is currently underway that will bring economic and population growth to the town in the near future and continue to increase demands for service from the fire department.
The Deputy Fire Chief will respond to emergency calls, handle department fire and EMS training, oversee the Fire Prevention Office, perform the duties of the Assistant Emergency Management Director and participate in the administrative tasks of running a combination fire department. Candidates must possess a valid Massachusetts drivers’ license and a current EMT-Basic or Paramedic license.
