The purpose of the position of Deputy Director of Human Resources is to provide managerial and executive level leadership and guidance in the management of the Department of Human Resources and throughout the city of Newton. This position performs complex, administrative, supervisory, and professional work in recommending, setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures and best practices, while identifying and implementing long range strategic human resources goals. The Deputy Director provides direct leadership and support to the Director of Human Resources in the management of staff, the maintenance of the human resources budget and in improving the overall personnel policies and practices of the city of Newton with a focus on employee support, engagement, enhancement and development, and the recruitment and retention of quality staff citywide. This position acts as the Director in their absence and performs all other related work as required and directed. This is a full-time, exempt position, hiring salary range: $109,471 – $134,819 annually, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to be a part of our team of dedicated public servants.
