Deputy Assessor (NEW)

The town of Holliston is seeking applicants for a new full-time position of Deputy Assessor. This re-imagined role is an opportunity to work closely with the Principal Assessor on all matters, and be a part of our strong financial team that sets the tax rate. The Deputy Assessor will be responsible for highly complex administrative, supervisory and professional work in appraising and assessing real and personal property; in planning, managing and directing the activities of the Assessors’ Office; and, in assisting the Board of Assessors with municipal tax assessment activities.

The Deputy Assessor acts as the Principal Assessor in his/her absence. Potential exists to succeed the Principal Assessor upon his/her retirement. The successful candidate must be able to interact well with fellow employees and the public in a courteous, helpful and respectful manner.

Requires high school diploma (college degree preferred) and five years of job-related experience, or a combination of education and experience. Requires Massachusetts Accredited Assessor (MAA) designation upon hire or showing progress toward achieving MAA designation. The town will cover the costs for earning and maintaining designation. Requires valid Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle driver’s license.

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position, 35 hours per week. We are proud to offer Group Insurance Commission health plans, dental, flexible spending accounts and retirement savings accounts. Municipal and state retirement systems transfer easily, and the town will honor longevity and earned vacation time accruals from other communities. Some remote work may be considered.

The position is Grade 600 on the Town’s wage chart, and the salary range is $68,896 – $70,467 annually; negotiation above salary range commensurate with experience. This position may be considered part of a succession plan.
