The town of Falmouth is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our department of Public Works Facilities Maintenance Division as a full-time Custodian. This is an important, hands-on role that supports the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our municipal buildings and the delivery of essential public services to our community.
This position offers a consistent full-time schedule, strong benefits, and the opportunity to be part of a supportive work environment. The position works 40 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with opportunities for overtime as needed.
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager and Facilities Working Foreman, Custodians perform a wide range of custodial and light maintenance duties to ensure Town facilities are clean, well-maintained, and operational.
This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks, and respond to facility needs in a timely and professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years of experience in custodial and/or maintenance work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Working knowledge of basic carpentry and custodial equipment, including buffers, scrubbers, snow blowers, hand tools, and power tools, is required.
Expected Starting Hourly Rate: Step 1 ($24.81/hour) – Step 3 ($26.83/hour), commensurate with qualifications and experience, with annual advancement along the 7-step pay scale.
