The town of Grafton is accepting applications for the full-time position of Council on Aging Director. This position is responsible for developing, planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating all programs and services to meet the social, emotional, economic, and health needs of Grafton’s elder adult population. The COA Director is responsible for overseeing all Council on Aging service operations, including referral and outreach, transportation, and outreach/coordination with other town departments that can assist our senior population. As well as wellness and educational programs in accordance with the by-laws of the town, the policies of the Council on Aging Board, the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and federal regulations.
Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, social work, or a related field, and three to five years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. This is a 35-hour-per-week position with a salary range of $73,171 – $96,008 DOQ.
The successful applicant must be able to work independently to ensure that time-sensitive projects are completed. Knowledge of local government operations, as well as state, local, and federal agencies that provide financial, social, and/or medical support services to the elderly and their families is required. Must have the ability to listen and organize proficiently, and assess individual issues and concerns with care and empathy. The successful applicant will have excellent written and oral communication skills, computer skills, and discretionary skills.
