The town of Brimfield is seeking to fill the part-time, benefitted position of Council on Aging Director. The Council on Aging Director is responsible for the administrative and supervisory work of implementing the services of the Council on Aging, planning and supervising the daily operation of the Senior Center and overseeing all aspects of managing personnel and programming.

Some of the essential functions of this position are but not limited to the following:
-Manages all Council on Aging personnel, developing and retaining highly competent, public-oriented employees via training and day-to-day management.
-Recruits, supervises, and trains volunteers on an as-needed basis.
-Supervises the social, recreational, and educational services and programs for elder adults provided by the Council on Aging.
-Provides information and referrals to area agencies and relevant parties offering healthcare, homecare, nutrition program, congregate meals, and the Meals on Wheels program.
-Participates in and works with elder-focused organizations such as the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, the Massachusetts Council on Aging, AARP, and Mass Association of Senior Center Directors. Works closely with Greater Springfield Senior Services
-Attends local, state, and regional meetings and training programs.
-Serves as mandated reporter to the Executive Office of Elder Affairs for abuse or neglect.
-Prepares and submits annual reports, the departmental budget, and payroll.
-Prepares and submits grants for program funding.
-Develops monthly agenda. Attends all Council on Aging meetings and writes a monthly report to Council on Aging.
-Oversees dispatch and driving responsibilities.
-Responsible for all deposits of collections from volunteers and van transportation and/or donations.
-Reviews and edits monthly newsletter.
-Provides and distributes application forms for a variety of elder services, such as fuel assistance, SNAP, VNA, etc.

-Provides referrals to and over sees Town Outreach department and SHINE Volunteer. Provides referrals to Veterans Officer.
-Coordinates and oversees the local tax work-off abatement program for elder residents and disabled veterans.
-Oversees daily operations of the Senior Center/Council on Aging office.
-Appropriately disposes of prescription drugs when required.
-Acts as an advocate for elder adults.
-Performs other related job duties as required.
-Prepares payroll and invoices for department and submits all relevant materials to the Treasurer/Collector for processing.
-Maintains relevant section of the town Website.
-Maintains department budgetary records including accounts receivable and payable.

This position is offered at a range of $22-34/hour, based on education and experience, for 22 hours per week.
