The town of Bellingham is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the town’s Conservation Agent. This position provides technical support, coordination, and professional management for the Bellingham Conservation Commission in carrying out its mandate and mission to protect the community’s natural resources. The Conservation Agent will work collaboratively with the Bellingham Land Use Department and reports directly to the Director of Planning and Engineering.

The candidate will provide professional advice to and supervision for the Commission’s work and projects and interact with consultants hired by the Commission. Applicants must have working knowledge of statutes and regulations applicable to the jurisdiction of the Conservation Commission, the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and associated regulations and policies, local bylaw and associated regulations and policies, relevant areas of wetlands science, vegetation functions and values, wetland replication and wetland boundary identification/verification. The Agent performs tasks under the general guidance of the Director of Planning and Engineering.

The chosen Candidate will perform all aspects of office tasks including filings submitted to the Commission for completeness, file processing, advertising, scheduling, and posting agendas. Other duties will include budget preparation and maintenance, correspondence, and attendance at meetings. The candidate will coordinate with vendors for annual treatment of nuisance aquatic vegetation at town beaches, review and process Conservation Restrictions and other open space parcels, oversee stewardship of Conservation properties and spearhead the Open Space Plan and its renewal.

This position is full-time and offers full benefits.

Salary: $70,000- $90,000 depending on qualifications
