The city of Watertown’s Personnel Department seeks a Confidential Assistant who will perform administrative and customer service duties to assist with the operations of the Personnel Department and the Watertown Commission on Disabilities. Such duties will include, but are not limited to: support recruitment process for all city departments; assist with onboarding process for new employees; conduct compensation and benefits surveys; maintain human resource information system; maintain knowledge of legal requirements affecting HR functions; maintain attendance, workers’ compensation and unemployment files; assist with collective bargaining document management; assist with the department goals and objectives, including support of DEI initiatives, OSHA, and Workers’ Compensation state reporting requirements; provide support to the Watertown Commission on Disability; maintain inventory and order supplies; and maintain employee records (physical and digital). Provide information and assistance to the public, as well as to employees of other departments. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Associates degree; BA preferred; three to five years of human resources experience; municipal or customer service experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and knowledge of HR principles, legislation, and regulations required. Familiarity with MUNIS or other Human Resources software required. SALARY RANGE: The expected hiring range is $50,712 – $55,415 DQE annually with excellent benefits package.
