The town of Plymouth seeks qualified applicants for the position of CIVIL ENGINEER for the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works.

Professional, administrative and technical civil engineering knowledge to design capital improvement projects, stormwater drainage systems, roadways, estimating bid preparation, construction inspection, review of projects for compliance with Town standards, and other related work as required. Performs engineering, drafting, and surveying functions, requiring the exercise of some independent judgment in setting priorities, in allocating division resources and assigning subordinates to projects, and in choosing between several alternative approaches, or in the use of proper technical methods for specific engineering issues or problems.

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field; five years of design and/or field construction experience in public works projects, preferably in the municipal field; or an equivalent combination of the required education and experience. Certification as an Engineer-in-Training is required. Certification as a Surveyor-in-Training and/or registration as a Professional Engineer strongly desired. Massachusetts Class D driver’s license is required. Proficiency in Auto CAD Civil 3D and Hydro-CAD is required.
