The city of Pittsfield is seeking a dynamic City Solicitor to lead our legal affairs and provide strategic counsel on key city operations. From navigating complex litigation to advising on city policies, this role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact while upholding the city’s best interests.
The Solicitor prosecutes and defends all actions involving the city’s interests and shall advise the Mayor, public officials, public school system, boards, departments, and agencies. The incumbent shall draft and/or approve legal documents, and represent the city before legislature. The Solicitor aids in the development and implementation of city policies, programs, plans, and procedures, and performs other duties as required by the Mayor or as dictated by job responsibilities.
The incumbent shall have outstanding interpersonal skills, be confident in their decision-making abilities, and overall demonstrate a solid command for the practice of municipal law.
The ideal candidate shall possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution, and ten years or more of experience in the practice of law, with previous experience in municipal law required.
