The city of Cambridge is seeking a Chief of Projects and Planning who will provide strategic support to the Assistant City Manager in leading CDD’s strategic planning, including formalizing and communicating the departmental planning process with a focus on annual workplans and long-term goals. Communicate broader planning strategies to staff at all levels. Develop a framework that advances long-term strategic goals while remaining responsive to City Council priorities and ensures alignment of goals across department leadership. Oversee key initiatives in collaboration with the Chief of Administration and program directors. Build strong relationships with other city departments and the city’s strategy team. Coordinate project teams and manages CDD’s project and program portfolio. Guide implementation of recommendations from citywide and area-specific planning efforts, such as Envision Cambridge. Oversee community engagement efforts and supervise the Community Engagement Manager, ensuring inclusive outreach to underheard and historically excluded communities. Lead the planning information and research team. Promote data-driven approaches. Serve as a connector across divisions. Represent the Assistant City Manager and performs related duties as assigned. Master’s in urban planning; seven years in municipal planning, five supervising; experienced in project management, team leadership, and diverse communities.
Rate: $141,278 – $163,905 annually
