The city of Amesbury is seeking a strategic and experienced CFO to lead its finance and administration operations. Reporting directly to the Mayor, the CFO will provide financial leadership across budgeting, reporting, internal controls, debt management, and municipal compliance. This role also serves as an Ex-Officio member of the Retirement Board.
Salary Range : $150,000 – $160,000 annually, additional compensation of $4,500 for Retirement Board Stipend
Key Responsibilities include oversight of all finance and administration functions, including audits and reporting. Lead the city’s annual budget and multi-year capital planning. Advise the Mayor, City Council, and departments on financial strategy and policies. Ensure compliance with GAAP, Massachusetts laws, and municipal regulations.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) with seven-plys years in municipal finance. Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. MCPPO certification required within 18 months.
