The town of Longmeadow DPW is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time positions of Building Maintenance Technician/HVAC. Position is responsible for heating, air conditioning and ventilation work at the journeyman level and performs other maintenance work as assigned.

Successful candidate must have:

  • Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Knowledge of facilities management; working knowledge of hazards and safety precaution common to HVAC maintenance and repair activities; working knowledge of practices, methods, materials, and tools used in modern HVAC repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials and the general public and to respond in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Must be available for emergency call outs during time off. Ability to plan work schedule to coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and customer service skills. Strong skills in operation of tools and equipment.

Associates degree or journeyman level in the trades or licenses, and three to five years of specialized training as an HVAC technician experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience.

Must have and maintain valid Massachusetts journeyman HVAC license; must have ability to work from blueprints or create own plan when needed; must have and maintain a valid driver’s license; must be able to pass a CORI check.

  • Required to be on call as needed to respond to emergencies
  • Salary $27.59- $29.28 per hour DOE/DOQ; excellent benefits.
