The town of Acushnet is seeking a Building Commission/Inspector/Zoning Enforcement Agent, full-time or part-time to perform technical and inspection work and all other related work as required. This is a United Steelworkers Local 9517 union position.
Required Qualifications: thorough knowledge related to enforcement, interpretation, and compliance with the Mass. State Building Code, local zoning ordinance, and other applicable regulations. Possession of a Mass. Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
Duties include but not limited to: performing investigations and acting on alleged violations; issuing notices & orders to rectify illegal or unsafe conditions and follow-ups; receiving and reviewing plans for building construction or alterations to determine compliance; keeping records of all inspections and approved plans; and staffing the Zoning Board of Appeals. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and plans; and prepare necessary diagrams is also required.
Candidates must possess certification as a local inspector and acquire Inspector of Buildings certification within 18 months. Possession of a Building Commissioner/Inspector of Buildings certification within 18 months of hire.
Full-Time Salary Range $84,000-$94,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications
