Dedham is a diverse and engaged town of approximately 26,000 residents, located just southwest of Boston. The Building Commissioner plays a critical role in supporting responsible growth, maintaining public safety, and working constructively with residents, businesses, and municipal partners. Working under the general direction of the Town Manager, the Building Commissioner administers and enforces the Massachusetts State Building Code and related local bylaws and regulations. The Commissioner provides professional guidance on construction matters, oversees inspections and permitting, manages departmental operations, and serves as a trusted resource to the public and development community.
The anticipated starting salary range is $106,094 – $138,428 DOQ. The town offers a competitive benefits package including comprehensive insurance, 457 deferred compensation plan, paid vacation time, paid sick and personal, and annual paid holidays. Employees of the town participate in the Dedham Contributory Retirement System.
