The town of Winchendon with a population of 10,364 and a budget of $32.5 million is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant Treasurer-Collector. The Assistant Treasurer-Collector is appointed by the Town Manager and is responsible for assisting the Town Treasurer-Collector in all areas of responsibility including collection, treasury, debt management, benefit administration, bookkeeping, human resource duties and filing mandated reports with various agencies. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a tactful and effective manner; ability to deal with unpleasant or tense situations involving staff and/or the public; ability to maintain detailed and extensive records and to track deadlines; and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deal effectively with interruptions.
An associate’s degree in business or finance is required and a bachelor’s degree in business or finance is preferred; two years of experience in benefits and payroll processing, preferably in a municipal setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be bondable. Certification from Massachusetts Treasurer/Collector’s Association a plus. Experience using MUNIS financial software is also strongly preferred. Starting pay for this 37 hour/week position ranges from $21.12 to $27.03/hr., depending on qualifications.
