The town of Bourne, an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer, has an opening for a full time Assistant Town Planner. This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to the Town Planner in carrying out a wide range of duties and responsibilities for the Planning department in the areas of: zoning and preexisting non-conformities, subdivision control, site plan review, GIS, and affordable housing. Attendance at public meetings is expected.
The Assistant Planner supports town-wide planning initiatives and goals pertaining to the Local Comprehensive Plan and duties will include site plan – special permit review, transportation planning, supporting the creation of affordable housing, comprehensive wastewater planning, and climate resiliency planning.
Qualifications and Education
A bachelor’s degree in municipal or regional planning or closely related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience. At least two years of employment experience. Preferred candidate has a minimum of two years Massachusetts municipal planning experience.
Full/Part Time and Hours
Full time position (35 hours/week.)
Salary
Starting range: $64,391 – $67,321/year
Salary Notes
This is a benefited position with health, dental, vision, life, PTO will be accrued at a 35-hr/week rate, and a retirement pension.
