The town of Holliston is seeking applicants for an Assistant Town Manager/Human Resources Director. As a member of the town’s leadership team, the Assistant Town Manager performs professional, administrative, and management work assisting the Town Manager in the daily administration of ongoing town activities. Oversees all aspects of human resources strategy and administration including recruitment, benefits, policies, organizational development, risk management and compensation/classification.

Assists the Town Manager on a variety of broad-based management issues; assists in the planning, analysis and implementation of Town-wide projects and initiatives; participates in various working groups/committees; develops complex analytical reports; coordinates projects for the Town Manager.

Advises Town Manager, Boards and Commissions on a wide variety of operational and administrative issues; ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, town by-laws, town policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements. Serves as a town representative in a variety of forums and venues; acts on behalf of the Town Manager in his/her absence; serves as acting Town Manager when so designated by the Town Manager or Select Board. Serves as a key contact to support department heads with various projects, operational challenges and/or communications.

Serves as the town’s Public Information Officer. Coordinates media releases. Works with staff to develop and oversee the town’s communication channels, including: social media, website, video media, newsletters, and traditional media. Assists the Town Manager on a variety of broader town management issues or special projects involving staffing and operational analyses in other departments.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, human resources or related field; and five years of professional experience, including two years in a management position, preferably in a municipal setting. Certification as PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP desired.

The position is M4 on the town’s wage chart, and the hiring salary range is $100,155 – $120,000 annually. The full salary range is $100,155 – $138,864.
