Assistant Town Manager/Director of Human Resources

The town of Auburn is seeking an Assistant Town Manager/Director of Human Resources. Under the direction of the Town Manager, serves as Assistant Town Manager and as Director of Human Resources. The position is part of the executive management team. Assists the Town Manager in a variety of broad town management issues and oversees the Human Resource Department, a jointly shared department with the Auburn School Department. Assists the Town Manager in the planning, administration, management and coordination of the daily operations of the town, including the implementation of existing town policies, bylaws, rules and regulations, and state and federal statutes and laws. May assist on a variety of issues including planning, economic development, green initiatives, citizen issues and other special projects as assigned.

Successful candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources administration, public administration, business management or in another related field; at least five years of professional experience in human resource management; at least five years of experience in executive or upper-level management, preferably in a municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in public or business administration with a concentration in human resource management is highly desirable.
