Salary Range: $53,668 – $57,752

The town of Wayland is awaiting passage of its Town Manager Act. The Town Clerk is currently an elected position. Under the Act, the Town Clerk will be appointed by the Town Manager. Wayland seeks an Assistant Town Clerk to fully assume the role of Town Clerk beginning as early as mid-May. The Town Clerk salary is $84,740.85, effective July 1, 2022.

Description of Position:

Works under the general administrative direction of the Town Clerk. Is responsible for the routine to complex administrative, technical support and supervisory functions of the combined office of Town Clerk, Board of Registrars and Elections.  Assists in the daily operation of this tri-functioning office and keeping official records, issuing licenses and official documents, providing information to town departments and the general public, oversees the office, as required, in the absence of the Town Clerk and performs all other related work as required.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma; associate’s degree in a related field of endeavor preferred.

Experience: Three or more years of experience in a Town Clerk’s Office.

Substitutions: Additional years of relevant education may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement.
