The town of Chelmsford seeks to hire an Assistant Town Clerk to research and respond to public requests for services and information in person, by phone and in writing. Oversees and participates in maintaining all vital records, receives and verifies nomination papers to qualify candidates for all elections, prepares, issues, and receives payments for licenses and permits. The starting rate is between $34.4429 and $39.9434 per hour, 37.5 hours/week.

- A high school diploma or equivalent required, a college degree in liberal arts, business or related studies is preferred.
- Five years of related job experience, including supervisory skills and municipal experience dealing with the public; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact in a fast paced professional office.
- Candidate will be expected to obtain the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation within four years of hire.
