Location: Annex Building, 20 Centre St., Middleborough
Status: Full-time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Wages: In accordance with current General Municipal Employee Group Union Contract
Grade B in 15 annual steps ($70,367.856 annually – $106,436.928 annually)
The town of Middleborough seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Town Clerk. The position directly reports to the Town Clerk and assists in carrying out all office responsibilities including assuming all responsibilities of the Town Clerk in their absence. The Assistant Town Clerk currently supervises two clerical employees and works under the general supervision of the Town Clerk and in conformance with federal, state and local regulatory laws, rules and regulations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to Town Meeting preparation and follow-up, management of vital statistics and records, issuance of a variety of state, county and town licenses, permits and certificates, dissemination of open meeting and public records requirements through the posting and publication of appropriate town events, daily reconciliation of all monies received by the office, elections and voter registration, certification of nomination papers, Town Census data; and perform any and all other duties related to the functionality of the department as deemed necessary by the department heads.
Requirements include an associate degree in government or business administration or a related field; two to three years of related experience, including experience in working with the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Incumbent must become a Notary Public. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational, communication and customer service skills and have the ability to interact positively with the Select Board, Town Manager, department heads and the public. Experience working in city/town Clerk’s Office or Elections strongly preferred. Salary commensurate with experience.
