The town of Hingham, a AAA rated community with an annual budget of $165 million, is seeking an experienced and highly capable Assistant Town Administrator for Finance (ATA/Finance) to serve as the town’s Finance Director. This position is a member of the senior management team along with the Town Administrator and the Assistant Town Administrator for Operations (ATA/Operations). The employee is responsible for assisting the Town Administrator with the day-to-day operations of the town, coordinating municipal finance functions and preparation of the annual town budget, creating financial planning initiatives, evaluating municipal services, and providing administrative direction to the financial departments, the Town’s procurement officer, and other departments as assigned by the Town Administrator. The ATA/Finance performs the duties of the Town Administrator in the Town Administrator’s absence and serves as second-in-command of the organization.

A candidate for this position should have a master’s degree in public administration, public policy, finance, business administration, or related field, and four to six years of progressively responsible experience in municipal management and finance.
