The town of Littleton is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time 40 hour/week, benefit eligible Assistant Town Accountant position in the Finance Office. Under the direction of the Town Accountant, this position is responsible for reviewing all department accounts payable requests to ensure compliance with Mass. general laws; reviewing all bill packets for accuracy; entering AP vouchers as needed; preparing warrants for Town Accountant and Select Board approvals and posting expenses to the general ledger; distributing and maintaining electronic files for BOS approvals related to AP/payroll warrants; reviewing and updating vendor profiles for 1099 processing; working closely with Assessor’s Office and Tax Collector concerning real estate, MVE and personal property refunds; posting all Collector receipts and departmental turnovers to the general ledger; creating and distributing the gasoline usage billing for various departments; maintaining tables within the financial reporting system application; running and distributing expenditure reports to town departments on a monthly basis; performing financial analysis as requested by the Town Accountant; acting as backup for finance administration as needed, primarily for printing of checks and posting of warrants; and assisting in the management of chart of accounts for the department and monitoring the budget.

Successful candidates will have an associate degree. Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting helpful, five years of responsible experience in municipal financial administration, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Microsoft Office and financial software packages. Position is subject to a thorough background check.
